The Weather

Weather Overview for Cape Verde

If you love the sun, then Cape Verde will certainly not disappoint. The sun shines 350 days a year and the warm air and sea temperatures make Cape Verde the perfect destination.

The weather in Sal is characteristically a tropical savannah climate. There is very little rainfall and if there is any rain at all, it will usually be during the 'rainy' season between August and October. Based on 30 year records, Sal receives an average of 33.6mm of rain in September (historically the wettest month) and 0.0mm precipitation in May (yes, 0.0!). In an entire year, rain occurs, on average, on just 10 days (compared to 33 in the Canaries and 145 in London!). Throughout a typical day in the Cape Verde, one will experience average temperatures of 21ºC in the coldest month which is February and 27ºC in September, providing a year round exceptional climate. The weather in Cape Verde suffers from very little seasonal variation. Sunshine hours remain very high throughout the summer whilst the rest of the year averages over ten hours each day.
